Studio Place Arts, Barre, VT
This light installation was part of an exhibition I had of my work at the Studio Place Arts visual arts center in Barre, Vermont in June, 2017. The installation was situated in a small corridor off of the main exhibit space that leads to several artists’ studios. I bathed the corridor with a combination of red and blue fluorescent lights that were strong colors on their own, but which also combined to create a beautiful purple glow.
For this installation I encouraged people to indulge their natural impulse to take selfies when they’re immersed in colored lights. In addition to having a sign urging people to “go ahead and take that selfie,” I also put up a bulletin board where I posted the pictures that people sent to me.
